updated 10/2017

Arizona Biker Leathers is known throughout AriZona and beyond, for their expert stitching and fine quality leather goods.
This is a family owned and operated business. Depending upon when you are there you’ll meet Ann, Ann’s dad ~ Dirty Old Man, son George & his wife Amber, and daughter Summer. She’s in the Army so she only gets to stop in while on leave, anymore. Rest in Peace George.
They have firmly established themselves as the go-to shop when it comes to creating custom patches; for your organization, business, or pretty much any purpose you can think of. Over and above the many riding organizations that have chosen to have their patches embroidered here; AZBL has stitched insignia for car clubs, stables, ‘robot war’ contestants, & others. If you ever need a custom patch stitched, large or small, this is the place to contact. There is NO minimum order required, either. ALL of their stitching, ~ embroidery ~ patch sewing ~ alterations ~ and repairs, is done IN store. We’ve had patches made at AZ Biker Leathers over the years and have always been impressed by the quality of the work, the attention to details, the speed with which it is done, and the outstanding prices.
Need something to put those patches on? This store is home to 2800 square feet of high-quality leather in a wide variety of styles. Whether you are shopping for jackets, vests, or chaps you’ll find a look that suits you. New in the store includes a Men’s Jacket & a 10-pocket Men’s Vest; both with gun pockets ~ both in distressed dark brown leather. Ladies can shop for premium leather jackets just in time for the cool weather to be coming around.
With AriZona’s heat being a factor so much of the year, you’ll always find a good stock of denim vests here as well ~ in blue and black; with and without gun pockets. Styles include traditional (Levi), leather trimmed, no collar, and side laces.
Soft goods include lightweight & heavy gloves for men & women, plus ladies belt-loop clip bags. There is also a sizeable selection of hard leather goods such as tool bags, saddlebags, t-bags, & such.
AZ Biker Leathers has customers from across the country who have never set foot in their shop. Thanks to their eBay store, they can offer their competitive pricing and quality work to everyone. Their online reviews show a very happy customer base. AZBL is among the longest continuously operating biker leather businesses in the Valley of the Sun. They know what they are doing, they know what riders need, and they work hard to offer the biker community quality products at affordable prices.
Okay so after you’ve got your leathers all squared away… then there’s ALL those tee shirts! There’s a HUGE selection. After that you’ve got your pins, bells, eyewear, headwear, helmets, masks, bandanas, …
We can only scratch the surface when it comes to talking about what you’ll find at AZ Biker Leathers. BUT we can strongly suggest you make a visit. Any day is a good day to stop by their store, located at 13833 N 19th Avenue in Phoenix. That’s the NE corner of 19th Ave & Thunderbird. Their hours are Mon-Sat 9a-6pm & CLOSED Sundays. Of course you can visit & shop online 24/7 via their website http://arizonabikerleathers.com/, or on Facebook at /arizonabikerleathers.
Now if you can, an ideal time to stop in is during their upcoming 12th Anniversary and Customer Appreciation Party.

In 2017 the party {#15} will be on December 9, from noon ‘til 4pm. This is their annual party to thank everyone who has supported them over the years. There will be free food & drinkables, music, vendors, store specials, & more. It’s always a good time.

Dentist - Dr Stephen Vital

Bright Shiny Choppers ... Okay, so these are teeth, not motorcycles. We know most folks would prefer to be reading about a new shop with all the chrome and fancy stuff they have to look at. BUT, when time comes and you need a dentist, you’ll be glad you were already introduced to Dr. Steve. Otherwise, you’ll be looking at the phone book or a list from your insurance provider. At that point, one name looks pretty much like another. Better to be familiar with someone before you need ‘em. Dr. Steve Vital has been a dentist for more than 33 years, receiving his credentials from Washington University at St Louis.  Dr Steve and all of his staff go through continuous education to keep up with the latest information in their fields. His office is located at 3505 E. Brown Rd., Suite 102 in Mesa, AZ. They accept pretty much all of the various insurance and dental plans except Cigna DHMO and Blue Cross / Blue Shield DHMO.

Just check with them when you call in if you have any insurance-related questions.

Services provided include all the basics: cleanings, root canals, fillings, crowns, relieving tooth aches, etc. Cosmetic dentistry, including all ceramic crowns and natural fillings, is available. I can say from experience that Dr Steve and his staff are good at putting nervous patients at ease and making them comfortable. Procedures he uses make things about as painless as can be, too. We have both had work done by Dr. Steve and are pleased with the results.

They address patients’ specific concerns plus their overall dental health.

Dr Steve has been recognized by both the State of Arizona and the AZ Dental Association for volunteering

his services to ACTION DDS - Donated Dental Services.

This program is a humanitarian service to disabled, elderly, and medically-compromised people.

Dr Steve’s personal interests include riding motorcycles and flying his airplane. He estimates he’s been riding for about 20 years, off and on;

and flying for about 15 years. He is a HOG chapter member.

He enjoys finding new places to ride to. You know those ‘small-talk’ moments that you have to go through with a doctor?

Well, it’s pretty cool to be able to talk bikes and such with someone who is also part of the riding community.

Office Hours are Monday through Thursday. {Friday? Gone riding!}

Dr. Steve and his staff practice ‘The Art of Dentistry’.

These people are knowledgeable and friendly, and genuinely care about their patients.

So when you’re looking for a dentist, give Dr. Steve a call at 480-924-6169.

Tell ‘em Bruce & Betsy sent ya.

Mesa Market Place Swap Meet

Click here to view story with photos

Mesa Market Place offers recreational shopping at its best!

Since 1996, Mesa Market Place Swap Meet has been a landmark in Mesa, AZ. Located at Baseline & Signal Butte Roads, it was a hit on its opening weekend and hasn’t slowed down. Parking is free, admission is free, and live music in the Food Court is also free.

This place is enormous. A single breezeway provides 1 ¼ miles of shaded walkways filled with diverse shops. The pace is relaxed, the merchants are friendly, and there are lots of places to sit and people-watch.

The market is 100% handicap accessible, and features six snack bars and a full-service Food Court. Hot breakfasts, burritos, lunches, snacks, smoothies, salads, and ice cream are all available. The Market Breakfast includes two eggs, toast, and hash browns for $4.50. Check out the coupon in the AZ Rider Motorcycle News advertisements for an even better deal!

Joan Wells, of the Advertising & Marketing Dept. at Mesa Market Place, shared, “You won’t find a denser concentration of small locally-based retail businesses anywhere else in the Phoenix Metro Area. And we know you love shopping locally. The market attracts merchants from all over the world. It’s still a bit of a swap meet in that there still are a few second-hand stores. But there is much more. Mesa Market Place is just the kind of place homeowners’ love. It’s where Arizona lifestyle furnishings and world décor meet.

“We Arizonans love our outdoor living areas: they’re vital to our lifestyle. This market is the place to shop for your backyard improvements. You’ll find pergolas, outdoor BBQ kitchens, patio furniture, fire pits, garden accessories, and even spas.

“And we Arizonans are always looking for the perfect summer outfit. It’s got to wear well, look great, keep us fresh, and be comfortable, all at the same time. You’ll discover great women’s clothing, jewelry, and shoe stores. Their clothing stores have perfected ‘summer survival!’

“Take your time shopping. Slow down and look at the variety. The prize you’re looking for will be just around the corner. A bit of exploring will reveal items for a fraction of the price a specialty store would sell it.

“Did you know…..? Mesa Market Place is the Number 2 tourist destination in the East Valley after baseball’s Spring Training! Tourists and locals enjoy the market equally! Your out-of-town friends will find the perfect souvenir to take home, reminding them of their trip to Arizona.”

Mesa Market Pace Swap Meet is an ideal location for supporting local small businesses. Perhaps you are looking to start a small business and are hesitant to commit to a traditional ‘brick and mortar’ store at first…? This may be the perfect place for you to launch your new endeavor!

“Mesa Market Place looks for ways to serve as this generation’s ‘city center.’ “We’ll always look for ways to support and to do good in our community. We’re a good place to bring people together,” says Mesa Market Place’s General Manager, Pam White.

Motorcycle & Car Shows are hosted here regularly - in support of the Modified Motorcycle Association, numerous Veterans organizations, and other community charities. There are also many patriotic-themed events that take place throughout the year… on behalf of Veterans and deployed GIs.

Gatherings here are always family-friendly… but no fur-babies please. Service animals only.

Full capacity, during high season, brings more than 900 merchants to MMP. But during the summer there are still some 500 or so merchants stocking about 900 shops. They offer tools, general household items, apparel & accessories, giftables, year ’round necessities, and more; plus all kinds of outdoor living items.

Mesa Market Place’s address is 10550 E. Baseline Rd., Mesa, AZ 85209. If you come in on Hwy 60, take Exit 193 Signal Butte Rd. Turn south, then turn right onto Baseline Rd.

Right now, Mesa Market Place is enjoying its Spring Season and is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, 7am until 3pm. In the middle of June they’ll cut back to being open just Saturdays and Sundays from 7am until 3pm. In the Winter they resume Friday-Sunday hours from 7a-4pm. Their website is www.mesamarket.com and is an excellent place to check on hours and upcoming events. You can also call Mesa Market Place at 480-380-5572, or visit www.facebook.com/mesamarket/

Any time of year you can find something you can’t live without at Mesa Market Place Swap Meet. C’mon out and have fun exploring all they have to offer!

Advertiser Review: Motorcycles on Main

Click here to view story with photos

updated 10/2017

Motorcycles on Main is a Sturgis-style Bike Night that takes place on the first Friday of each month between September to June, from 6-10pm on Main Street in downtown Mesa, AZ. It is a family friendly event organized by the Downtown Mesa Association.

Road access is restricted to motorcycles only. I must admit I always love riding into town & seeing those ‘Special Event’ signs that detour cages and allow us to roll on.

Since the first MoM back in 2010, the event has grown continuously. Attendance over the last year has grown dramatically. According to Cori from DMA, even with the extreme heat this summer, MoM saw steady participation. Attendees like the consistency of Motorcycles on Main, since most area bike events stop setting up in the summer. We’re told that during the peak season, over 2,000 will show up;

and in the hotter months anywhere between 1,000 and 1,500.

More and more vendors set up to offer their goods, with an average of 50 participating each month now. And more of the local businesses are keeping their doors open late to accommodate after-hours shoppers. So not only are you seeing vendors with biker-specific goods you may be familiar with from other events; you get the opportunity to browse some independently owned boutiques, shops, and specialty stores.

Vendors can call Courtney at 480-890-2613 for more information.

This is an excellent gathering for regular riders to get out for the evening… free from hype and glitz … just come out, park your bike, listen to some tunes, grab a bite & a brew, catch up with old friends, make some new ones. Some of the participating restaurants are

The Grill on Main, Queens Pizzeria, Mangos Mexican Cafe, and Cucina di Vita.

So you get a good variety of dining options.

There are generally several bands playing ~ some familiar and others still to be discovered. There’s been some good planning put into this. As you walk down the street, you’ll be listening to some tunes & as you walk out of their range you’ll start hearing another as you approach.

The beer gardens along the street allow everyone to be OUT and a part of the gathering; rather than just parking and then going into a bar. Many of the restaurants offer outdoor seating or have full front windows. So, even if you are ‘indoors’ for a time, you remain part of the event and the atmosphere. It’s an excellent setting.

If you’ve been to Motorcycles on Main, then you know what we’re talking about. If you haven’t checked it out yet, you really ought to. It’s our favorite bike night. We look forward to seeing you there! B&B
